Tan Lines

Photographer Agathe Karsenti and model Ascelle Lou take us on a trip to the French Riviera where they combine the colors, light, and nature of the Mediterranean

I wanted to shoot in La Ciotat since the first time I went there a few years ago, and I thought Ascelle was the perfect fit since she is from the South of France and her vibe is so solar and energetic.

We met on a beautiful morning, and wandered around the calanque of La Ciotat, chatting about our lives, watching the sun get high in the sky.

Tan Lines is a walk in the sun that makes you want to go back to the holidays and immerse yourself in the fresh waters of Les Calanques, an iconic and protected area of the French Riviera, and stay in the shadow of the trees of the Parc du Mugel. Tan lines are what remains after summer is long gone. When you see them you get nostalgic, and start dreaming about the next escape in the sun.

For me as a kiddo from the South, summer is more than a touristic season... it’s a whole happy mindset. It’s a great time to connect with everything that the sea offers during long sunny days- a feeling we can almost touch in this editorial with Agathe. It was joyful walking around Les Calanques talking and sunbathing. I always enjoy sharing my deep love for the South.
